Speed Indication Devices (SID's)

Speeding is a common issue in many towns across the UK, posing a threat to the safety of residents and drivers alike, Rawdon is no exception to this and has many streets that suffer from thoughtless drivers.

Radar speed signs (SID's) offer a practical solution aimed at raising awareness among motorists and encouraging them to reduce their speed in a sustainable way. To this end, Rawdon Parish Council took the decision to instal an initial five units, this was then increased to 9 units.

The units record every passing vehicle, the time, date, speed and direction. Whilst these units only display the speed of traffic from one direction, they actually record the speeds of vehicles from both directions

On occasions these units can stop working, if you find a unit is not displaying a speed. Please let the clerk know and she will arrange for an engineer to come out and reset the device. Report here
