Congratulations to Rawdon in Bloom
Published: 30 September 2025

Rawdon in Bloom have achieved a gold award for the 4th year
running and the best in the category of Urban Community, in this year's
Yorkshire in Bloom competition.
Despite the extremely dry conditions the group have managed to keep the floral displays looking colourful and attractive.
The small group of volunteers grow most of the plants in house either from seeds or plugs, and build all their own planters.
A small annual donation from the Parish Council is supplemented by fund raising from plant sales, donations and the Christmas tombola, to purchase seeds and materials to maintain year round colourful displays. Where ever possible plants are recycled and overwintered, and the displays include many perennials which cope better with the extremes of weather we experienced this year.
This year the group has encouraged local shops and businesses to work with them providing planters and plants with the local businesses helping with the watering and maintenance.
A big thank you to all those and others such as the Rawdon Knitters and Crocheting groups who have supported and supplemented the floral displays.
Due to our previous record of gold awards Yorkshire in Bloom nominated the group to represent Yorkshire in this year's Britain in Bloom competition. The presentation of these awards will take place in Brighton on the 31st October, and the results are eagerly awaited.
