Burst Water Main

Published: 31 July 2026

Yorkshire Water are carrying out emergency repairs to a burst water main on Harrogate Road at its junction with Green Lane, Rawdon

The burst was first attended by Yorkshire Water yesterday morning. A repair had been made during the afternoon but the pipe initially failed again under pressure. We understand that there is significant consequential damage to the highway structure across the Green Lane carriageway and footways. The team will be working throughout the weekend to resolve the issue. The intention is that the groundworks will be carried out from now through to Saturday. The new road surface will be laid on Sunday, along with the white lining. That material then needs to cure so the intention is that the road will be open to traffic again early Monday morning.

Green Lane is closed to through traffic with diversion routes signed. Harrogate Road requires temporary signals, under manual control.

The location of the works is shown at https://one.network/?GB151635145 .
